I loved Inspector Gadget, and still regularly hum the theme tune to myself :) And though, I’ve not gone in fancy dress as him, like the commenter above, I’ve seen him at plenty of parties. Go go gadget!
Congratulations on your award and well earned recognition, how thrilling! Inspector Gadget was a childhood favorite, inspired many creative efforts among my more mechanically inclined siblings, good times.
This was a staple of my childhood- one Halloween I went out as Gadget. The fact that it was both exciting and funny- very few American '80s shows were either or both- was a big draw, as was the well-thought out characterization of the main characters.
Later, I watched reruns "Get Smart"- and was astonished to find that Maxwell Smart sounded almost exactly like Gadget (for good reason!).
It definitely left a mark on my fiction- it has to be both exciting and funny for me, or it won't work.
I love the Halloween story. The way that the character and show were developed really showed some great insight from animation to voice. Thanks for reading and sharing David.
What a fun read! Of course I had to watch the video to listen to the theme! It was such a cool show and I use to watch it with my brother back in the days.
One of the absolute greats! Even today, when someone reaches a long way for something I hear them called Inspector Gadget as a joke. What a great character.
Loved Inspector Gadget! (But now I can't get the theme tune out of my head...) As a side note, loving this animation may be the only similarity I share with Musk and Gates...;0
He really is a classic. Thanks for reading. Been singing the theme all day too 😁
So I'm absolutely baffled that Gadget preceded RoboCop. I'd've figured it was the other way around!

Since Musk is a fan, oes anyone else think inspector Gadget may have been the inspiration for neurolink?

Hi, thanks for reading. I’m not sure what I’ve won? 🤔
My apologies, it was Jason that won an award, I read your post right after and got my cartoon J's mixed up.
No trouble at all 🤩
Thank you for reading. It was an iconic cartoon that has stood the test of time.

Thank you. I know what you mean, once it’s trapped in your head it’s hard to shake 😁
