They did indeed. Really talented and developed their storyboards really well in everything they produced. Thanks so much for your comment.

I remember watching the repeats in the early 80s. There’s nothing not to like about Bagpuss, it’s just lovely. That big yaaaaawn is so very perfectly ‘old cat’-like 😍

It is indeed. Early, simple and heart warming.

I think I must have caught Bagpuss in its 1980s iteration, and remember it as being a sweet and simple animation. It's remarkable that so few episodes were actually ever made!

It really was simple animation at its best with a very simple, yet heartwarming story.

It’s so surprising to learn there were only thirteen episodes. Though I only watched it a few times, I’d thought it a long term continuing series. Thanks for another informative post :)

Looks like it was a stop-motion show. Right?

Yes, it was stop motion, as was most of the Small-film shows (they also made The Clangers and Ivor the Engine, amongst others).

Oh wait w, was there only 13 episodes? That’s crazy as it seemed to go on for years (but I was only VERY young so time may have been distorted), the doll madeleine was a little creepy but professor Yaffle was ace. Reminded me of my brother a little. Yet another fantastic program from an amazing era

I'm glad it brought back childhood memories. It was an iconic animation. I can see what you mean about the rag doll. I am sure your brother will be pleased with the likeness :)
