I can remember the intro to each episode well, very bombastic theme tune. I also thought I saw some inspiration taken when I watched Neo Genesis Evangelion - the city/base of operations lowered underground when under threat, just like in Stingray.
Hi, As far as I know it was. It was sold internationally and Australia was one of the countries. Well worth a watch if you get the time. I was a massive Captain Scarlet fan here!
Thanks Jon. Captain Scarlet is another one I’ve missed out on. Will go on the hunt! Just looking at one of those stills from Stingray it looks like Lady Penelope used to get around in a submarine before the six wheel Rolls Royce in Thunderbirds!
This just reminds me of boring Sunday afternoons in the 1980s, only broken up by one nod to children's tv!
The Andersons had quite a little TV empire going on...
They did indeed, very prolific.

I remember it too so vividly. That’s an interesting link.
I lived for Thunderbirds and Fireball XL5 but don’t remember Stingray at all. Do you know if it was shown in Australia?

That really made me laugh Peter, I had to look again and can’t unsee that now!
