Was it just a coincidence that on The Brady Bunch in the 1970s, Greg Brady became a (one episode) pop star named Johnny Bravo. Were the makers of the animated character influenced by this?
I know I'm not the only one but I used to drive those who lived with me and around me doing a Johnny Bravo impersonations. I'd watch and laugh like crazy and rerun the lines through the week and people would look at me like I was crazy. Good times.
Johnny Bravo lives on in our imaginations. While I read this piece I could hear his voice clear as day. Thank you for revitalizing those memories!
Like many older cartoons, there are “problematic” themes in this one that some aren’t happy with. But that’s our history, it’s where we came from. We had to be there in order to get here.

I love Johnny Bravo - one of the most well-balanced flawed protagonists in the cartoon world in my books. I love him because I so obviously shouldn’t 😂
Great article! I’ve never watched Jonny Bravo but he’s always used as a reference in TV shows and films. Judging by the comments, he’s loved by many :)
"Oh, yeah. I have this affect on all women..." No, you don't.
The earliest episodes are the funniest ones- they are well staged and directed. However, the formula started to wear thin later...
Several writers and directors who would eventually create and run their own programs worked on this series, most notably Butch Hartman ("Fairly Oddparents") and Seth MacFarlane ("Family Guy"), so it ended up becoming a farm team series of sorts.
(I would definitely be interested in doing a guest spot- keep me in mind).

I think that you could be on to something here.
This is one I have never seen! But it sounds like an interesting concept. Thanks for sharing :)
This character cracks me up. I’ve got to see the Bravo Dooby-Doo episode now! Thanks for the tip, Jon. :)
A half term treat :)
💯

You are so right. Animation highlights this well, and if it's good, then it changes with society too. Thanks for reading and commenting.

I think that you might not be alone in that :)

Thanks David, your comments are always ace and you are so right on this one! It would be great to talk about a guest post for sure too, thank you.
