I wasn't too big a fan of this- it just seemed too much like the old DC comic "Dial H For Hero" (which has a similar device at its heart) for me to ignore. But I dutifully made entries for all the different series in my animation encyclopedia, because I couldn't get away with ignoring it there.
I remember watching Ben10 near the start of my teaching career. The year 7 and 8 boys were big fans, and I wanted to know what the fuss was. It was really well made, cleverly written, and a fun watch. I didn’t know that there had been more ‘grown up’ spin offs - but that makes sense for this series (and characters). The writers/creators seemed to be pretty well tuned in to their audience, so it seems sensible that they would let the characters mature with them.
That’s so interesting. Although children in my class don’t rally talk about it any more you can see the ripples of impacts in other animations. Thank you
Ben 10 was my favorite show growing up. I was the perfect age. As the show developed it felt like I was aging with Ben. Being a kid with him, then a teen, and then finally a young adult. It is the only show that grew with me. It was a one-of-a-kind experience.
I remember Ben10 being huge when I was growing up - all the boys had the merchandise. This is a great look at the history and impact of an iconic cartoon :)
Definitely not one that was on my radar as too late for me! But great write-up, as always. I love that the voice actor was also Raven in Teen Titans, who is one of my favourite animated characters! I don't think you've done Teen Titans yet...
A little “after my time” but fantastic post as always! :)

Thank you. You are right it was massive at the time. Thanks for reading, and taking the time to post a comment. 😁

That’s so good to hear. I love it when an animation hits like that. Thank you for reading, and taking the time to comment.

Lebron? Wow. Fascinating to hear what celebrities like. I don’t know this one and will check it out.
It’s worth a watch even if it’s just because cool people like it :)
😆

I love Raven. Her voice is so perfect, Tara Strong is a vocal genius.
