A favorite! (Second only to Daffy Duck, the classic middle child even if he wasn’t)

It's very cool that a cartoon that debuted in the 1940s is still popular today! Great write-up :)

In terms of television exposure, he's probably one of the Warner characters who has logged the most time. In the various Warner compilation TV shows from the U.S., it seemed every episode had at least one of his films. So that accounts for his popularity as much as anything.

His manner and behavior are rather repetitious, but that is also what makes him memorable. I just had to look at the title of this piece and I immediately heard him lecturing somebody in full country preacher mode, as he was wont to do.

(Note: While Senator Claghorn, portrayed by Kenny Delmar on Fred Allen's radio program, was a fairly obvious influence on his manner, Mel Blanc actually said he used a sheriff character on a more obscure radio program, "Blue Monday Jamboree", as his vocal template).

Another animation I think I missed growing up! But once I read your piece, I recalled his catchphrases and Southern drawl. Thank you for sharing.
