I was an absolute blast from the past and nostalgia hit, but I confess that I was not familiar with Ivor - which is odd because I was a typical train nut when the colour series came out. It goes to show that not ALL kids Brit-tv necessarily reached Australia! (Just watched the Unidentified Objects episode to see if it was familiar, but no.)
Loved this look at an animated classic. I am not quite old enough to remember the original...but remember watching it when repeated as a child. It's one of those simple, gentle animations that remind you of childhood. Thank you for sharing : )
Thanks for reading, it was a great little animation 😁
I wonder if Pete Townshend thought of Ivor when he wrote “A Quick One,” featuring Ivor The Engine Driver?
Yes, I was wondering that, too- except that Ivor in the show is the engine and not the driver.
I loved Ivor the Engine. Thanks so much for this, Jon. I see a visit to YouTube in my very near future! :)
Just five minutes ago I was watching a compilation of openings to children's shows of the 70s and 80s, and sure enough, Ivor was in the mix!
That’s amazing. I like a bit of a compilation here too 🤩

This is the Welsh equivalent to England's Thomas The Tank Engine franchise, which is a little bit better known.
Very true. Thomas is on my list too.
Ivor was always one of my favourites - and Postgate was a genius!
I'm going to check it out. Thanks!
