It must be Henry's Cat
A niche British cartoon which ran for over a decade. It must be Henrys Cat
Henry’s Cat
Henry’s Cat was a British comedy animated series created by Stan Haywood and directed by Bob Godfrey. As a side note, Bob Godfrey was also responsible for the Trio adverts in the 1980s and produced Rhubarb and Custard and many other animated series.
First broadcast on 12th September 1983, each episode followed the story of Henry’s cat along with his friends and enemies, narrating each episode by Bob Godfrey.
Characters
Henry’s Cat was, of course, the main character and was a daydreamer. He was a laid-back cat with a great passion was eating. Chris Rabbit was the best friend of Henry’s cat and was always full of energy for any antics he could get into with Mosey Mouse, who was the opposite of Chris Rabbit but always willing to join in Henry’s Cat’s adventures.
Henry’s cat was joined by several other characters, who over-estimated their abilities from Douglas Dog, Sammy Snail, Pansy Pig, Ted Tortoise, Phillipe Frog and Denise Duck.
Henry’s cat and his friends had their enemies, however. We had Rum Baa Baa, a criminal mastermind billed as ‘the world’s most evil sheep.’ He was joined by Constable Bulldog, who was sure to take a dim view of the gang’s capers. With his wet country accent, Farmer Giles frequently stopped Henry’s Cat and his friends from having fun.
Episodes
Henry’s Cat ran for just over a decade. Running initially for just 4-5 minutes for the first two series, which was increased for series 3 and 4 to a 15-minute time allocation with 12 minutes for the final series in 1993. Over the five series, Henry’s Cat managed 51 episodes, first broadcast on BBC but was shown in many other countries, including Australia and New Zealand.
