I loved this, Jon. I really hope you’ll consider compiling all of these editions into a book about the history of animation! I can definitely picture that sitting on my shelf!

Thanks so much, Reda. I am loving writing these and have a nice childhood one I am researching for next week. I like that idea of putting them all in a book. Maybe a summer project.

"They weren’t even aspirational or friendly. They were observers, outsiders, laughing at human foolishness from the comfort of their futuristic world."

Like Kang and Kodos from "The Simpsons", cackling in the comfort of their spaceship...

I remember begging my mum to let me have Smash instead of making her (always delicious but suddenly old-fashioned) mashed potatoes! When she finally did, they tasted awful 😄 proving that the advertising worked!

Thanks for this, marketing is so like that. It promises so much, and often delivers dried potato in a bag.

Thanks so much. Growing up around this campaign made the research really hit home. I loved the ads a lot more than the product :) Thanks again for reading and commenting.
